Poster Presentation Instructions
Poster presentations will be displayed on individual stateroom doors aboard the MS Westerdam. Stateroom doors are a bit more narrow than regular doors and provide less space than the standard academic poster display area. Consequently, the size of the posters will need to be 20x36 inches (or 1.6 feet wide by 3 feet long). The closest standard poster size is 24x36, so depending on where you have your poster printed, it may be necessary to trim the paper to make it fit on your door. To insure that you don't end up having to trim any of your content, please ensure that all printed content is within the dimensions of 20x36 inches. Many printing services are, however, capable of producing a poster with 20x36 dimensions.
Your poster must include the following information:
- Authors and affiliations
- A statement that the conference is sponsored by GLMA and the Lesbian Health Fund along with their respective logos, which you can access from this site.
- Your poster number (which will be assigned to you when you receive your acceptance). The poster number should appear in the top right hand corner of the poster.
Your may wish to include the following headings on your poster, but these are optional and can be adjusted based on the content of your presentation:
- Introduction / Background
- Research Method (brief)
- Research results (brief)
- Conclusions & Implications
Because we want our poster presentations to be accessible to all guests on board the ship, we would like you to focus more on the conclusions and implications that provide relevant information to the average lesbian or queer woman. However, please also include relevant details about your methods and any statistical analyses so that the information is also of use to researchers and health care professionals.
Please refrain from including any images of graphic nudity or profanity on any of the posters, even if it is relevant to your work. All posters will be displayed in public areas accessible by both conference participants and non-participants. If you are in doubt, please send a your images to email@example.com for pre-approval.
You may also wish to print hand outs of your poster that people can take with them, or provide a link to where the poster can be viewed online. You may also submit your poster to the website to be displayed online during and after the conference.
