Required Software & Accounts

You will access your textbook, course readings, and activity assignments on Perusall. Perusall is a free platform.
You will also be invited to join the course Slack Workspace. You should download the Slack app onto your computer and mobile device (and/or tablet), as this will help you stay better connected with the course.
Assignments not completed on Perusall will be turned in through the Trent University Blackboard system.
Additional course information, including lecture notes, will be provided through Notion. If you have a Notion account, you will be able to access additional helpful features (e.g., assignment templates). If you sign up for a Notion account with your Trent Email address, you can get a FREE Personal Pro account.


Required Readings

The required text for this course must be purchased through Perusall. You will receive a “code” to join the Perusall classroom through the Blackboard site for the course. Once on Perusall, you’ll purchase or rent the following text:

Van Bavel, J.J. & Packer, D.J. (2021). The Power of Us: Harnessing our shared identities to improve performance, increase cooperation, and promote social harmony. Little, Brown Spark. — This book must the purchased on Perusall, however, it is relatively affordable, so you may also wish to purchase a printed copy.

Second Book — this book can be purchased in any format you choose, but it is part of your required readings.
